Don't Die Dragonfly The Seer Series Linda Joy Singleton Books

I had my eye on this book for a long time before I actually picked it to read it. I was wary over the first few pages, the writing style was a little simpler than I was used to, but once I got into the story, I fell in love.

Sabine has physic powers. At her last school she had visions of a boy dying and she failed to stop it from happening. After his death she is kicked out of the school. She in turn goes to live with her grandmother who lives on a farm and starts a new school. She is not thrilled about the idea of her mother sending her away but a fresh start could do some good. Sabine meets some new friends, finds a boy she has a crush on and everything seems to be going great... until the visions start again. After trying to ignore them, she finds herself uncovering a mystery to save a life. Along the way she starts dating, confides in a friend, learns to have fun, and meets a very hot farm hand that she wants to go away.

I really enjoyed this book. It was questionable for me at the very beginning, it is a very simple and quick read and I was worried there wouldn't be any meat to the characters or story. After a while I was able to enjoy the writing style and found myself liking the characters and lost in the mystery. It was very fast paced and a lot of fun.

The characters were very cliché' but I really didn't mind. The story is more about the mystery then strong character growth... which I find as a breath of fresh air after some deep reads. I was able to connect to the characters on a simple enjoyable level. I felt I knew them and they were not too predictable, and found them very likable. Even though they were cliché' I found myself enjoying the relationships build and grow. I liked the romance and the friendships, each relationship unique.
Sabine was a likable character. At times she did get on my nerves, she did make some stupid decisions and she was whiny at times. By the end of the book, I really liked her. I also really liked Manny, one of my favorite characters. He is smart, sarcastic, and a real brat. He knew what he wanted and went after it. I also like Penny. She is annoying at times because she is really perky, but she shows to be a great friend. The only one I didn't feel a connection too was Josh, he seems pretty cool, but wasn't a strong voice in the book. I hope to see more of him in the future.
The tone of the book was very fun, the writing style was quick and simple, but the book never felt rushed to me.

I had a lot of fun with this book and plan to read the rest of the series. I would recommend it for fans of mystery and those who love a book that is light and quick, nothing to deep or thought provoking.

Don't Die Dragonfly The Seer Series Linda Joy Singleton Books Reviews

This book actually took me a few days to read. It was interesting but there were times where I was like ok can we please get to the more interesting parts? Unfortunately those didn't come until the last quarter of the book, but that last quarter made me want to continue on with the series. So here's hoping the next book keeps going the way the last quarter of this book did then I'd really enjoy this series.
The story was a light read which was nice considering I was reading it on breaks for work. It was short and kept me intrigued for more. I am thinking about purchasing the next book.

One distracting issue with this kindle edition is some grammatical and formatting errors. A little distracting when it happens when you are in the story and it pulls you out.

The characters are believable high school characters with your typical, "I'm special but I wanna be normal" angst. Nothing new here but still a good read.
I will admit, I did download this because it was a free download at the time. I'm glad I downloaded this book for free when I had the chance as I would have been very disappointed with the price I would have paid.

The spelling errors throw me off. There are so many. This is clearly an edited book, so why were those not fixed? Secondly, the characters are in high school. Sabine comes off, especially nearer the end as an adult. She's being sort of preachy in my opinion.

This book has a good plot, and once Sabine starts to embrace her gift and get out of her comfort zone, the plot picks up. I just really do not like how the book ended either. We're left with a giant cliff hanger. She is given a box and the story ends.

This really isn't a bad read, I'm just really unhappy with the amount of typos contained within. I think that really made this book a harder, less enjoyable read.
Very easy read! I was really rather impressed by the creativity of the author in creating such a fantasy world that somehow felt so real and relatable at the same time. There's nothing normal about Sabine Rose, but that's more then okay. In fact, that's part of her charm. Then again, her ability to appear normal is really the characters appeal to our sense of reality. The book was mysterious and full of twists and turns. It really reminded me of a a mature version of Nancy Drew - with of course a few additional super natural abilities. I would highly recommend this book to any one who loves fantasy without going too far down any rabbit holes. Great book!
This was a book that I nabbed free on long ago and stashed away for a rainy day. Without knowing the premise or even bothering to check, I jumped in and was quickly sucked into Sabine's not-so-ordinary world. It's a fast paced, get-to-the-point kind of book, and aside from being a bit predictable, I enjoyed it and will probably continue with the rest of the series.

Dragonfly dealt mostly with the high school social dynamic. I enjoyed the Singleton's style of writing and how she presented Sabine's powers, but I felt like most of the characters were extremely too archetypal for my tastes the cheerleader is entirely gossipy and vapid, the goth is all attitude, the love interest is absolutely perfection. I also thought some of the character interactions were a little forced and rushed. I would have liked to see some of the relationships explored on more than a superficial level, but I expect that may come into play later in the series. There were oodles of typos and some spots that had either the wrong word or misused verb tenses. The most annoying one was when a character would say "I" and it would be typed like "II". A minor annoyance, but one that distracted from the reading all the same.

This was a short but light and fun read; I was able to finish it in about a day. Anyone who likes supernatural YA fiction will most likely enjoy this book!
